Weekend round-up: Mané saves Nani’s blushes, Jackson scores again

Rio Ave, V. Guimarães, Belenenses, Porto and Benfica lead the way

Jackson Martínez (who else) scored for the Dragons at Paços de Ferreira, a last-gasp goal from Carlos Mané earned Sporting all three points at home to Arouca, while Eliseu’s fine strike gave Benfica victory on Boavista's artificial pitch last night (match report).

Debutant Ruben Neves shines as Porto impress in opener

Wins for Benfica and Braga as Sporting stumble

ruben-neves-herrera-20140815.jpgFC Porto kicked off the new season in front of a full house at the Estádio do Dragão on Friday evening, and did not disappoint the 50,000 crowd with an impressive display, beating Marítimo 2-0.

Benfica won their opener by an identical score at home against Paços de Ferreira, while Braga overcame returning Boavista 3-0 at the Quarry. Sporting conceded a last-minute equaliser in a 1-1 against Académica in Coimbra.
