Osasuna's Portuguese players

Nelson (born June 10, 1983)

Cape Verde born right-back Nelson beat the transfer deadline to move to Osasuna at the end of August 2010, and immediately stated his aim to get his career back on track in Pamplona after a tough couple of years. Nelson looked set for a highly promising career when his all action displays from full-back with Benfica caught the eye, particularly in the Champions League where he scored a memorable goal against Manchester United at Old Trafford. However, after leaving the Estadio da Luz under somewhat of a cloud, Nelson had a troubled two-year spell with Real Betis, who were relegated from La Liga in his first season.

Not wanting to spend another season in the Spanish second tier, Nelson pushed for a move as the transfer deadline approached in the summer of 2010. Osasuna, coached by Jose Antonio Camacho, with whom Nelson worked with at Benfica, proposed a one-year loan deal with an option to buy, and Nelson headed to Pamplona, looking to finally fulfil his potential and add to his single Seleccao cap.
