Siena's Portuguese players

Goncalo Brandao

Goncalo BRandao

Belenenses youth product Goncalo Brandao left Portugal for the second time in his career in the summer of 2008, when he signed a five-year deal with Serie A outfit Siena. The central defender's previous venture abroad came when he spent a year on-loan in England with Charlton in the 2005/06 season, aged just 20, but Brandao returned to Belenenses after struggling to make an impression in the Premiership.

Injury problems delayed his start to life in Italy, but Brandao made a good impression when finally making his Siena debut in December 2008, and will hope to use the Tuscan club to showcase his undoubted potential in one of the world's strongest leagues over the coming seasons.
