Filipe Teixeira looking to leave West Bromwich Albion

Portuguese open to offers

teixeiraWest Bromwich Albion midfielder Filipe Teixeira says he is keen to leave the club, after struggling for first-team football at the Hawthorns last season.

Teixeira moved to the West Midlands outfit in 2007 from Academica, and helped the club to promotion to the English Premiership in his first year. However, a cruciate ligament injury saw the winger miss the second half of the campaign, and Teixeira struggled to make an impact after returning to action early last season as the team were relegated from the top flight.

“I have one more year left on my contract, but I don’t want to stay,” he told Agencia Lusa. “I am hoping something comes up, something interesting. I would look upon a change positively, because I was not used much there (WBA) last year.”

Currently on holiday in the Algarve, Teixeira went on to refuse to rule out a return to Academica, where he spent two seasons, although admitted that he would have to accept a drop in wages in order to rejoin Os Estudantes.
