Manuel Fernandes set for winter Besiktas move?

Midfielder linked with move

Portuguese international Manuel Fernandes could leave Valencia for a January switch to Turkish side Besiktas, according to reports in Spain.

Former Benfica man Fernandes, who has started five of his team’s 12 La Liga games so far this season, has been regularly linked with moves away from the Mestalla over the last year in search of more regular football to aid his international prospects with the Seleccao.

A potential move to Italian champions Inter, then coached by Jose Mourinho, last January fell through at the last minute after Fernandes failed a medical. Sporting were believed to be keen to bring the 24-year-old back to Lisbon during the summer, but reportedly could not meet the financial demands to make the deal happen.

Now, according to AS, the player’s desire to move on has led to talks between Valencia and Besiktas over a loan deal for the second half of the season. The paper states that negotiations are at an advanced stage, although no official agreement has yet been reached for Fernandes to move to Istanbul.

Should the move go ahead, Fernandes would link up with fellow Portugal international Ricardo Quaresma, who has enjoyed a good start to life with Besiktas following a summer switch from Internazionale.

Portuguese weaker than Turkish League

What gives you the idea of Portuguese League is stronger than Turkish...I only heard of Porto,Sporting Lisbon and lately Benfica from Portugal that is all. Your 1st place team Porto couldnt even beat our 5th place team in Europa League at home in Portugal. Most Turkish teams have more money and better players and larger fan base than any Portugal team. Can you tell me how many starts play in Portugal today I can count quite a bit of them in the Super Lig though

to the Turkish guy commenting. yay you guys tied in Porto and Porto beat you at home. Porto top of the group without loss at Portuguese league and uefa that to me says that they are the better club. Turkish clubs get leftover players that have passed their prime from other leagues.

Well when you mean weaker league can you please take it in a consideration that Turkish Super League is much way better than Portugal League. You can simply check online ranking sites and other sport sources. As a weaker Club : I hope you did watch last Porto - Besiktas match in Porto which Quaresma wasn't able to play and also some of our fellow players coz of their injure ~

And just last 3-4 years some clubs has taken a place in Europe beside Porto,Lizbon and Benfica.

Why they don't come back bcoz they can earn more money and they can really taste of fanaticism and football love. Stop commenting without having any doubt just watch and follow that teams then you can get why~

Anyway we live the footbal you just watch it's simply as it is '.) wait you all for a game in Istanbul I'll gladly host you and after EL group stage you can choose any match to watch in Besiktas then you'll also see what Guti and Quaresma have already seen and felt in love with '.)

Regards and kinds from Istanbul my lovely Portuguese football fans ~

I Don't Know Why Do Some Portuguese Talent Move To Weaker League Especially Turkey Super Lig Or Greece League..I Mean What's The Good Of That? For Examples :
Makukula in Manisaspor,,Vieirinha in PAOK,,Quaresma in Besiktas,,And The Forgotten Talented Striker Ricardo Vaz Te..Where The Hell Are You Right Now???
Please,,I Beg For All Portuguese Clubs Not To Let Their Hometown Talent Go To A Weaker Club..Please Buy Him ASAP...or Their Carrer And Talent Will Be Buried Alive..Please
For Fernandes,He'd Better To Join Sporting,,Pedro Mendes Is Pretty Old,So They Need DM...Vieirinha Please Back To Porto Immediately..Makukula Please Join Sporting Too,Liedson is Over,,Postiga isn't Reliable Enough,,Yannick is Ready To Move To PL..

it would be a good signing for besiktas they need mid and 1 striker next to bobo than they have chance to win europa
Benfica's a good idea

Benfica could really use a good box-to-box midfielder. Hopefully he doesn't destroy his promising future by going to Besiktas. He should go to either Portugal or a midtable team in England, where he has done very well in the past.
Return to Portugal

I don't like to see Portuguese talent go out east to leagues like Turkey and Greece why won't they return to Portugal to try to revive their career? Would like to see his return back at Benfica.
