Official: Ricardo Costa signs for Valencia

Defender moves to Spain

Portugal international Ricardo Costa has completed his transfer from Lille to Valencia, signing a four-year deal at the Mestalla.

The 28-year-old has spent the second half of the season with French club Lille, having left Wolfsburg of Germany in January. However, it was always expected that the former Porto stopper would move again at the end of the season, with Valencia regularly hinted to be his most likely destination.

The Spanish club announced on Monday that they had reached an agreement with Costa to sign with Valencia for four seasons. The Portuguese joins countrymen Miguel and Manuel Fernandes with Los Ches, with the former Benfica pair having helped Valencia to a third place finish in La Liga this season.

Congrats to him...moving to a top club. Lets not forget miguel that he played left back at porto too...he actually played more left back, right back and defensive mid than he did centre back at porto.

Happy for him. He's a good central back (and also right back), very consistente and regular. I wish him luck!
