Portuguese midfielder signs for Ankaraspor

NecaPortuguese midfielder Neca has completed his transfer from Konyaspor to fellow Turkish Super League side Ankaraspor on a two-and-a-half year deal.

The 28-year-old has been in Turkey for a little over a year, having joined Konyaspor midway through last season on a loan deal from Maritimo, before agreeing to stay on at the Konya Atatürk Stadium over the summer.

However, Neca has now made the switch to the capital city of Ankara, signing on with Ankaraspor, who are currently struggling in 15th place in the league, until the summer of 2010.

A Lisbon native, Neca came through the ranks at Belenenses and was a part of the Portuguese team at 1999 FIFA World Youth Championship and 2002 UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship.

One season with Vitoria Guimaraes in 2005/06 was followed by a move to Maritimo, but after failing to nail down a regular first team place Neca opted for a move abroad last January with Konyaspor.

Experienced defender Ze Gomes, formally of Rio Ave, remains in Konya. The 31-year-old has recently enjoyed more action with the first team after a frustrating start following his summer move from Maritimo.
