Video: Machado orchestrates Toulouse victory

Sochaux 1-3 Toulouse

Paulo Machado’s set-piece delivery proved crucial for Ligue 1 outfit Toulouse at Sochaux last night, with the Portuguese providing the ammunition for all three of his team’s late goals at the Stade Auguste-Bonal.

Machado, who earned a call-up to the Portugal squad by Paulo Bento earlier this month, claimed three assists in the final 18 minutes as his side ended a six-match winless run, enhancing his strong reputation as set-piece expert. The former Porto man is widely renowned in France for his abilities from deal ball situations, ranging from corner and free-kick deliveries to long-range shooting.

The game had been goalless up until the 72nd minute, when Daniel Congre nodded a Machado corner past Sochaux goalkeeper Matthieu Dreyer, and further headers by Mauro Cetto (80’) from a Machado free-kick and Congre (90’) from another corner from the Portuguese put Toulouse on the path to all three points. Geoffrey Tulasne registered an injury time consolation for the hosts.

Having started the season strongly before their recent dip in form, Toulouse are in fourth place in Ligue 1. Machado, who signed for the club last summer having previously spent a season on loan at Saint Etienne, has started all ten league matches for his side so far this campaign.

How can you say "not good enough"?

After seeing those assists you're going to say that? I think our set pieces have been terrible recently and maybe Machado can make it if he continues like this.
Not good enough yet

Untill he plays for a better club, im not convinced he deserves to make the NT, national duty is much harder than the opposition he versed 2day.
