Paulo Machado waiting on Saint-Etienne

Forward's future depends on club's table position

Paulo MachadoPaulo Machado is playing a waiting game to determine if he will remain with French outfit Saint-Etienne. The player has yet to commit his future to Les Verts as the club are embroiled in a relelgation battle.

The Portuguese forward is enjoying a fine spell with the Ligue 1 side as the 23-year-old has made almost 40 appearances, scoring 4 goals, in all competitions.

But despite having found regular team football, the on-loan Porto player does not know if he will remain at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard as Saint-Etienne only sit two points above the drop zone.

"Saint-Etienne have the option to buy and are a good club to join; FC Porto no longer has a say. Should the team remain in the top flight, I believe they will excercise the option to buy."

"They have spoken, more or less, to me about it, but we will see what will happen at the end of the season," declared Machado on TSF.
