Injury blow for Goncalo Brandao

Defender set for spell on the sidelines

Goncalo Brandao’s trial stint with Juventus is over after the Portuguese defender suffered a suspected rupture of the Achilles during a friendly match on the team’s tour of North America.

The Siena stopper joined the Juventus squad for a period of training and two exhibition matches in North America against the New York Red Bulls and Fiorentina, in the United States and Toronto, Canada, respectively. The 23-year-old recently admitted that he was hoping to impress enough to possibly win a transfer to Turin.

However, just twelve minutes into the match with Fiorentina at the Rogers Centre, Brandao went down injured, and early reports suggest serious damage. If suspicions of a rupture of the Achilles tendon are proved to be accurate, the former Belenenses man faces a long spell on the sidelines.

Yet another Portuguese gets cursed at Juve...

I even did a Transfer Market Bulletin when the news was first reported about his trial there. Therefore I will repeat:

****All Portuguese Players Don't go to Juventus****

Maybe we should start a charity to help Atletico Madrid pay the transfer fee for Tiago.
