In demand Keita out for rest of season

Vitoria Setubal striker breaks arm in two places

KeitaSenegalese striker Ladji Keita may have played his final game for Vitoria Setubal. The club’s top scorer suffered a broken arm in yesterday’s 1-1 draw against Academica and will miss the rest of the season, as speculation surrounding his future continues.

Keita had to be substituted in the second half and was transported to hospital where an x-ray showed a fracture in two bones in his left forearm. Vitoria Setubal doctor, Frederico Varandas, said the speedy marksman would be out of action for a minimum of four weeks and will therefore play no more football this season.

Top scorer

The news is a big blow for the Sadinos in their battle to beat the drop. Keita has been in fine form this year, notching 10 goals in a difficult season for the club, who are four points above the relegation zone with four games remaining.

His form has attracted the attention of a number of clubs abroad. Press reports in Portugal suggest he has received offers from clubs in Cyprus, Romania, Greece and France. Keita has already had spells in Cyprus and France.

Setubal are keen to keep hold of the 26-year-old for 2010/11, but the club’s well documented financial difficulties mean it is highly likely the player will receive a more lucrative offer from abroad.
