Rio Ave release Joao Tomas

Striker to join Al-Sharjah

joaotomas.jpgRio Ave have confirmed that they and Joao Tomas have come to a mutual agreement to rescind the player's contract and allow the forward to move to the United Arab Emirates and represent Al-Sharjah.

The 34-year-old striker joined the vila-condense side only this year and notched eight goals in 18 appearances.

Tomas recently underwent an appendectomy and was to be sidelined for up to four weeks. But the former Portuguese international will resume his recuperation with his new club, who are managed by ex-Vitoria Guimaraes boss Manuel Cajuda.

Wow....their only star player that scored goals. Bruno Gama is a star too, but he is no goal scorer.
