Vieirinha earns PAOK draw in Greek Cup tie

Olympiakos 1-1 PAOK

A late goal from Portuguese midfielder Vieirinha saw PAOK come away from the first leg of their Greek Cup quarter-final against Olympiakos on level terms.

PAOK travelled to the current Super League leaders looking for a positive result to take back to the Toumbas Stadium for the return leg in two weeks time. The visitors almost reached the interval with the match goalless, but Francois Modesto broke the deadlock to put Olympiakos ahead on the stroke of half time.

The Thessaloniki side looked set to leave Piraeus with a one-goal deficit, until Vieirinha popped up with his 9th goal of the season. The former Porto man broke from midfield to get on the end of a long ball forward, managing to get the ball under control with his first touch before poking his finish past Antonios Nikopolidis.

PAOK, who have won the Greek Cup four times in their history, will host the return leg on Wednesday 2nd March. The match comes four days before a top-3 clash with Panathinaikos, who are one place above Vieirinha’s men in 2nd place in the Super League.

PAOK did get him on loan but they bought him the season after. I hope he keeps playing well good enough so a bigger club as a eye for him and buys him because I wouldn't mind seeing him in a Portugal jersey. This guy needs his first cap!
its nice to see

Its good seeing him score goals & they seem to love him at PAOK.
Not sure if he is ready for the seleccao though.
Needs a transfer to a bigger league and continue do well & score goals & provide service...potential is there.
good season

Vierinha has really played well in Greece this season. I'm surprised. I hope that he continues to do well and gets a transfer to a bigger league. After that, maybe he will be of some service to Portugal.
Beautiful goal bring him home

This was a beautiful goal in it's own way. See Vierinha look to the goalkeeper when the ball is high in air to know what to do when he dominates the ball. Are Porto still owners of him? He should come back to Porto next year because Porto will have to sell Hulk and Falcao
