Pacos de Ferreira forward Caetano facing shoulder operation

Rising star out for six weeks

CaetanoPortugal U19 international Caetano will undergo an operation after dislocating his left shoulder for the third time in recent months against Vitoria Setubal on Monday.

The diminutive forward has been in impressive form this season, despite suffering the set-backs of a recurring shoulder problem. The Castores have decided that surgery to definitively correct the ailment is the best solution.

“Caetano is still very young and the operation is the only way to prevent further occurrences of the same injury and to transmit total confidence to the player in the games, because this kind of injury hinders his development.”

“His subconscious may transmit to him a degree of fear in going in for challenges. An operation is inevitable when a shoulder is dislocated more than three times,” said Pacos doctor Manuel Jose.

Best solution

Caetano himself agrees that it is the best solution to solve a problem that has plagued him since his days as a youth player for FC Porto.

“I was already expecting this possibility, and after what happened in Setubal I understood that I couldn’t delay the operation any longer,” said the 19 year old.

“Despite the problem I always gave 100% on the pitch and now I hope to make a full recovery so that I can get back to top form and help the team achieve its objectives.”

Caetano is expected to be out of action for six weeks.

Us mere mortals

I think the weeks versus months is due to us mere mortals versus the world class athletes. Mind you, his job is recovery and he will have access to physiotherapy without having to worry about a job or the like.
Six weeks?!

I had a similar surgery and it took me 5-6 months to fully recover. I think Caetano is a promising young Portuguese and I hope he recovers quickly. Good luck brother!
