Rui Vitoria named new Pacos de Ferreira coach

“I take on this challenge with optimism and confidence”

Rui VitoriaRui Vitoria has been appointed as the new coach of Pacos de Ferreira. The former Fatima boss takes over from Ulisses Morais, who did not renew with the Castores at the end of the season.

Vitoria adopted a prudent and pragmatic approach in his presentation press conference.

“Getting three points every weekend is what we are concerned about. If we can’t manage that, one point is our next aim. Then, at the end of the championship, we want to have reached our best position possible,” said the 40-year-old.

It is Vitoria’s first stab at managing a top-flight team, hence the caution, but he added that he was looking forward to taking on the challenge and bettering himself as a coach.

“It’s a difficult challenge, but nobody can evolve without enticing and difficult challenges. Therefore I believe in the evolution of the players, of the coaching staff and of the club. You only evolve by surpassing difficult obstacles.

“Having said that, I have no fears in taking on this role. I do so with great optimism and a lot of confidence.”
