Nelson ready for crunch clash against compatriots Ricardo Costa and Miguel

“This game is a final for us” says Osasuna defender

Next weekend Portugal full-back Nelson will come up against two familiar faces. Struggling Osasuna play Valencia, with Seleccao team-mates Ricardo Costa and Miguel likely to line up for Los Che

Nelson says he always enjoys meeting up with his fellow Portuguese, but is very much focused on getting three much needed points for Osasuna.

“It’s important to reencounter these compatriots, who are dignifying Portuguese football. They are great players, in a team that is looking to guarantee its Champions League place. I get on well with them.

The former Benfica defender has enjoyed an excellent season on an individual level. His resurgence was rewarded with a recall into the full Portugal side for last month’s friendly against Finland, and Nelson promptly put in a man-of-the-match display under the watchful gaze of Paulo Bento.

“I feel like I have been reborn at Osasuna. The coach has given me confidence and I feel motivated to continue working hard,” added Nelson.

Yep, bad defending from Ricardo Costa and the frenchman killed the game.

Nelson is a quality player and deserves better and I hope he can lead his team to victory to save their ass from relegation but words cant express the sympathy that I have for Miguel after the loss to Real Madrid.

He was the only real threat for Valencia apart from Soldado. Looked to threaten down that right flank on every possession.

Typical Ricardo Costa was exploited and embarassed on virtually every counter attack orchestrated by Kaka. Without Miguel in the back 4 it would have been 10-0.
