Maritimo ready to get season started

Madeira side focused on winning opening match

mvdg.jpgVitoria de Setubal will pay a visit to the Barreiros and thier hosts Maritimo will be waiting patiently as the team are feeling confident going into the 2010/11 season.

The verde-rubros have had a long pre-season as they had to qualify past two rounds of the Europa League, but all those competitive matches have helped Maritimo prepare for what very well might be a compelling season.

"Maritimo are ready to start the championship," said manager Mitchell Van der Gaag. "We have been at work for nine weeks and finally we will start (the season), despite having played four matches in the Europa League - which has provided us some comfort to initaite the challenge that is most important for us."

"We will start the season with the same philosophy from last year - take it game by game with the intention of winning. But we also know that it's not possible to win every game"
