Man Utd’s Nani backs Ashley Young signing

“It’s good for the team”

Nani says he is not concerned by Manchester United’s signing of England winger Ashley Young, following speculation that the new arrival at Old Trafford could have an effect on the Portuguese international’s future.

Young completed a big-money move to United last week, signing a five-year deal with the Premier League champions. As a result, various media outlets have suggested the transfer could have direct implications on Nani, who despite being voted the United Players’ Player of the Year has been linked with a host of clubs across the continent.

“Of course I have to welcome everyone they sign, I think Man United is a fantastic club,” Nani told reporters when asked about his situation. “When they bring in new players, they know if it is good for the team or not, and this (Young signing) has to help them. It is good for the team; we want more (players) to help us to win trophies.

I've been there (at United) when Cristiano was there, Cristiano was one of the best players in the world. At that moment (I had no) worries about him (taking my place).”

Reports over the weekend indicated that United are also keen to retain the former Sporting man, and therefore Nani looks set to remain with the club and continue to prepare for the new season.
Last season I played more games (in a season) than ever (before) at Man Utd, that's why maybe in the last games I didn't look the same as in the first games,” he admitted.

Now I'm on holiday for some rest, to get my power back. At the start of the season I will be fine to start strong again, start to do what I know.”

For those who don't know what Liverpool's intentions on what to do with him- they want to cash in on Raul M.
Best to stay

Young pales in comparison to Nani's tally last season. Young got pace and that's about it. If there is a healthy relationship with SAF, granted he is at full fitness, he will definitely start. I don't see Young pushing him to the bench. The only player who should be worried about his playing time is Park. As for Valencia, on their best day, Nani is way better than him.
Stay at Man U

I found SAF's decision to leave Nani on the bench for the Champions League final very strange. That being said, staying at Man U makes the most sense. Scholes is now retired, Giggs is winding up his career as well. This leaves some room for Nani. Also SAF is 70 years old. He won't be there forever. Then Mourinho can come to United and Nani's career will take off.
not good

As I've said before, I really think Nani is going to find himself on the outside looking in next season. Moves like this prove it. Samir Nasri is also being considered by SAF and before long there really will be no place for Nani but the bench. United isn't going to spend millions on these players to have them sit behind Nani.
I think the solution is for Nani to leave and play for another big club but that is easier said than done. He wouldn't play at Madrid or Barcelona, shouldn't move to Italy (a notoriously difficult environment for the Portuguese style of play) and will face the prospect of intense scrutiny and ridicule if he goes to one of Man United's rivals in England. If he stays at United though, he's just going to get benched. At best he'll play about as much as he did before last season, which is to say whenever the favorites are injured or tired. I think he could bring a lot to United, but SAF isn't interested. It's kinda similar to what happened with Berbatov. He was the premier league's top scorer but found himself on the bench for many of their biggest games, including the final when he didn't even make the squad. That's just how SAF is.

Nani is more talented than Valencia, Cole, Park, etc..... but he fails to provide the consistency that SAF demands. Until he does that, he'll be used sparingly. It's a shame too because I feel like Nani would start every game for almost any other team in the world. I think it's time for him to branch out and try something new.
Nani and Meireles

Nani form was very great this season,,sooo SAF is sick to sell him if ashley young play in a same position as him,,i would prefer valencia to sit on the bench..Nani is better than him,,
and how about meireles??liverpool haven't offered him a new contract yet..will he stay in liverpool next season??i can't believe this.,,,his contribution to liverpool is really huge this season.
My Beloved Nani

Stop hating on a player, Nani is 1 of the 5 most talented player in the United Squad right now. Its gud to have 2 skilled players in evry position so that each and every season we shoud be fit for trebble if u get my point, for instance, last season Valencia had an Injury we had Nani left to deliver and that was costly for united, had it bin Yung was there am pretty much sure we could have bin singing a diffrent tune right now
suck doll you

I think it's because he wanted Nani to be like his beloved Ronaldo... But in reality, Nani makes the most brilliant runs from back to front to only hog the ball. Don't get me wrong, he will pass, but how many times should be make the pass where he shoots. I love Nani, but he is trying to be Ronaldo way to hard.
Stay and Win

Nani, is saying all the right things, and I'm glad.
I still say he is better off playing at Man United than moving elsewhere. He should be fighting for his spot and build on last season. He still disapears too many times or tries to do too much. It's a fine balance between the two, but there is no reason why he can't find that balance.

I have never been a fan of Young. He basically only has pace and not much else. He's a little better than Djalo, and that's not a compliment.
I also think that SAF might deloy Young like Capello does for Englands squad, which is in the middle of the field.
