Figo pours cold water on Mallorca comeback

Player not tempted to come out of retirement

Luis FigoLuis Figo has immediately quashed Mallorca’s audacious attempt to bring him out of retirement. The Portuguese legend says his mind is made up about finishing his playing days as he intends to adopt a new lifestyle.

Yesterday news broke that Spanish businessman Carlos Gonzalez, who is set to become the new owner of La Liga outfit Mallorca, was to make a lucrative offer to Figo to sign for the club.

“Yes, I’ve heard about the interest but the person who it came from isn’t even the president of the club yet,” said Figo last night. “My assistant knows about the interest from Mallorca, but at this moment my priority is to rest and I’m not thinking about getting back on the pitch.

“If I wanted to continue playing football I’d have continued playing for Inter Milan.

“My future involves a different professional activity. I can’t say more at the moment, but after hanging up my boots it’s logical that I’m not going to stand still.”
