Eliseu inspires Malaga win

Malaga 4-1 Racing Santander

Portuguese international Eliseu scored once and created two other goals as Malaga lifted themselves out of the relegation zone with victory over Racing Santander.

The former Belenenses man opened the scoring at the Estadio La Rosaleda with a stunning left-footed volley from outside the area, connecting with a corner delivery from fellow Portuguese Duda.

Malaga went on to lead 2-1 at half time, and Eliseu was a key figure in the second period, creating both goals for Salomon Rondon as the Andalucians secured a victory that lifted them above Sporting Gijon and out of the bottom three.

It was Eliseu’s fourth goal of the season in Spain, with the 27-year-old having scored twice in La Liga and once in the Copa del Rey before yesterday’s match. The Azorean’s previous league goals - against Villarreal and Levante - have been equally impressive, both having come from long-range shots using his favoured left foot.
