Video: Meireles inspires Liverpool to victory over Wolves

"He's a very good footballer" - Dalglish

Raul Meireles followed up his first Liverpool goal against Everton last week by scoring a stunning long-range strike and setting up another as his team cruised to a 3-0 win at Wolves.

The Portuguese’s goal in last weekend’s 2-2 derby draw opened his account for the Reds after a summer move from Porto. Meireles retained his place in the side for the trip to Molineux, and his contribution helped new boss Kenny Dalglish to his first three points since taking charge of the club earlier this month.

First Meireles set up the opener for Fernando Torres, breaking down the right of the penalty area and cutting the ball across to leave the Spaniard with the simple task of slotting past Wayne Hennessey to put the visitors 1-0 up ten minutes before half time.

Liverpool led 1-0 at the break, and Meireles doubled the advantage less than five minutes after the re-start with a memorable strike. Having seen the ball half-cleared by Wolves goalkeeper Hennessey, Meireles reacted by connecting with a first-time volley from distance that flew inside the right post.

Torres rounded off the scoring in the final minute, again finishing from close-range after good work from Dirk Kuyt. After the match, Dalglish was quick to praise Man of the Match Meireles, saying: “Raul played very well; he made the first and scored the second. He's a very good footballer. It takes a wee bit of adjusting getting up to speed with the Premier League and he's getting up to that level - he's a talented footballer.”

Fantastic, creates goals, scores goals...the heartbeat of Liverpool's team. Just like he was for the national team in the World Cup. Football is a game for artists and soldiers, Portugal need both. Raul fits the bill! Forca!!!

And we still werent even playing anywhere near our best, someones gonna get a real hiding when we play to our full ability, it would be nioce if it was Man Hoof when they come to Anfield, although that depends on if they bribe the officials again.

Without doubt, his best performance for Liverpool so far. He was at his box-to-box best and he was making his trademark runs from deep (Torres' first goal). Now that he is in a great league, he can develop into one of the best all around mids in the world.

Lastly, his goal was out of this world!!!
