Eliseu in line for Malaga return

Winger could move again in January

Portuguese international Eliseu could be set to end his struggles with Italian club Lazio by rejoining Malaga during the transfer window, according to reports.

Eliseu signed a five-year contract in the Italian capital during the summer, with Lazio fending off competition from a host of clubs to win the race for the pacey wideman, after an excellent campaign in La Liga with the Andalucian side.

However, the 26-year-old has failed to settle in Serie A, making just a handful of appearances in all competitions, often as a substitute, as the Biancocelesti have struggled to meet expectations so far this season.

According to reports in both Spain and Italy, a return to Malaga is a strong possibility in January. Madrid daily AS claims that Eliseu is the club’s first target as they look to lift themselves out of the relegation zone, with the paper citing the Portuguese as being openly enthusiastic about a return to La Rosaleda.

Real Betis, managed by Eliseu’s former coach at Malaga Antonio Tapia, are thought to maintain an interest in the player, while other clubs are likely to make enquiries in the coming weeks. However, Malaga, where Eliseu settled well both on and off the pitch, are expected to lead the chase.
