Eliseu looking forward to Lazio adventure

Winger states international ambitions

eliseuAs he prepares to start his new life in Italy, Portuguese international Eliseu believes his summer move to Lazio could have a positive affect on his prospects with the Seleccao.

Speaking to journalists at Madrid airport, on his way to Rome to begin the new chapter of his life, the Azorean admitted that he was relishing the prospect of playing in Serie A, following a 500,000-euro move from Spain’s Malaga last month.

“I had just one year left on my contract with Malaga and there was interest from other clubs,” said the 25-year-old, who made his Portugal debut last month. “Of those clubs, it was Lazio who showed the strongest desire to sign me. It was easy to come to an agreement.

“Italian football has always fascinated me. Along with Spain and England, it is the best in the world, and I will be proud to face teams such as Mourinho’s Inter. Goncalo Brandao plays for Siena, he’s the only one I’ve spoken to and he had a lot of good information.

“It is an opportunity for me to experience a new league, in an historic club. And it’s a good opportunity to enhance my image for the national team. Wearing the Portugal shirt was the highest point of my career and I won’t forget it.”
