Eliseu to sign for Lazio

Azorean heading to Serie A

eliseuPortuguese international forward Eliseu is set to complete his move to Lazio in the next 48 hours, after agreeing a five-year contract with the Rome club.

Eliseu revealed on Tuesday that he had yet to reach an agreement over personal terms with the Biancocelesti, who are expected to active his 600,000 euro release clause with Spanish La Liga club Malaga.

However, the player’s agent, Carlos Goncalves, revealed to Maisfutebol this evening that the “matter is resolved” and the 25-year-old will travel to the Italian capital tomorrow and undergo medical examinations at the Stadio Olimpico on Thursday.

Former Belenenses man Eliseu had long been linked with a move out of La Rosaleda due to his exceptional form throughout last season in La Liga. The minimal release clause in his contract, originally stipulated when joining Malaga in the Spanish second division in 2007, made the pacey wideman a widely in-demand player across the continent.

Should the move go through, Eliseu will become the third Portuguese to represent Lazio, following in the footsteps of Fernando Couto and Sergio Conceicao, both of whom played for the club during their Scudetto-winning season of 1999/2000.
