Another game, another goal for Makukula

Gaziantepspor 0-1 Kayserispor

Ariza Makukula scored the only goal of the game as Kayserispor beat Jose Couceiro’s Gaziantepspor to claim their first victory since the resumption of the Turkish Super Lig.

The Portuguese striker scored four minutes into the second half, getting his 16th goal in as many matches with a turn and finish from inside the area. The on-loan Benfica man now has twice as many goals as his nearest challenger in the goalscoring charts, with Gustavo Colman closest to Makukula with eight strikes.

The result sees Kayserispor remain in fourth place in the table, while Couceiro’s Gaziantepspor are in 11th with just one win from their last seven outings in the league.

Sorry, but even I could have scored that goal ... with my eyes shut.

Poor, poor defending.

Yes i agree... if the Turkish league is so weak then why has Daniel Guiza (who we all know as 07/08 La Liga Top scorer) scored so few goals? Keep in mind he plays for Fenerbahçe and therefore most likely has a lot better service than Makukula at Kayserispor.

Right now i would put Liedson, Makukula and Edinho ahead of Hugo Almeida in the Portuguese National squad.

As a matter of fact i think we should use simão on the left wing, Nani on the right wing and Ronaldo and Liedson as the two strikers up front!

Even though Makukula has 16 goals this season and I'm happy that he continues to score I have to admit that defense looked very weak from that goal. Either way he scoring and goals and most importantly he's winning games for his club.

strikers

we have no real strikers. portugal's strikers don't scare anybody, it's been our downfall for decades.

Liedson is a glorified midfielder, defenders push him around like its nothing. Almeida doesn't score enough goals and he can't create his own shots. Gomes is a mess. why not give makukula a try, he can't be any worse. if anything with 16 goals in 16 games it shows he's opportunistic like van nistelroy, who i think isn't very good technically but always seems to score a ton of goals. thats all that really matters.
put Makukula in

according to this article hes scored 16 goals in 16 games i think thats excellent form, he should be used as a sub for Liedson tho becus i feel Liedson is as good but in a better league, cq should try Makukula out tho in a few friendlys before the wc

are you kidding me? look at makukulas goal rate in the selecao
1 goal in 1 game. Almeidas is 1 goal in 9 games.
Give makukula the chance and hell fire up the selecao.

Liedson himself is not ready for the selecao... hes not in hot fform like this beast " MAKUKULA"
What are you talking about?

The world cup squad should have at least three strikers. There is plenty of room for Makukula and Hugo.

When you said "David Almeida" you meant Hugo Almeida right?

6 goals in 19 games just isn't good enough. I'm sorry.

Actually David Almeida has scored alot this year if u checked, what makes it even better is he was injured for alot of last year, and his at a better league, so yes he does score goals and is our next best striker after Liedson.

Atleast for the moment.
Only good news for Portugal.....

I know that the Turkish league is small and not as big of a deal as a lot of other leagues, but Mario is right, to be top goalscorer in any league is a great accomplishment. He is in the form of his life and if he keeps it up I definitely think he deserves to go to the world cup.
There shouldn't be any real threat to Liedson and Almeida, both of whom I would like to see score a little more. I say bring him in place of Edinho. You can't argue who's form is better. 3 strikers is all we really need since the midfield is so important for Portugal.

In the meantime, we need to focus on the creative midfield position where Deco and Raul Meireles currently play. I would like to have more viable options for the two of them if at all possible, especially since we play Brazil in the group stages and possibly Spain in the knockout round.
Almeida?

How can we consider Almeida if he doesn't even score goals? German league or Turkish League, the player in form is Makukula and Almeida wants to play for Portugal then he must improve his game or he'll be easily forgotten.
impressive, but not enough

I wouldn't have makukula as the backup for liedson. Almeida has very similar qualities and plays in a much better league. Overall I think Almeida is a better and more experienced player.

I understand that the Turish league isn't that big but to be the top scorer in any league is always a great accomplishment. I think Liedson should start but having Makukula would be a great back up in case Liedson has any problems.

Great for Makukula but the Turish league is pretty unknown. He is not world cup ready. He is lucky if he makes the Portuguese reserve team. I am glad he is doing very well with that team though.
