Tiago dismisses talk of Juventus exit

Midfielder linked with move

Portuguese international Tiago Mendes has denied suggestions that he is on the verge of a January switch from Juventus to German champions Wolfsburg.

The former Benfica man has been touted as a target for the Bundesliga side for several weeks, with reports suggesting that Tiago could be used as a makeweight in a deal which would see Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko head to Italy.

However, Tiago told Record that it is not in his thoughts to leave the Stadio Olimpico.

“I’ve spoken about that, but I can guarantee it’s nothing more than media speculation. It is not the first time we have talked about my departure from Juventus and probably not the last. But it is not in my plans to leave.”

After a disastrous debut season in Italy in 2007/08, the 28-year-old finally started to establish himself under Claudio Ranieri early last season. However, a two-month injury lay-off saw Tiago drift out of the picture during the second half of the campaign and the Portuguese has struggled for first-team football for much of this term.
