Tiago: Change in attitude behind Juventus turnaround

“I thought Juve was modelled on me,” admits midfielder

TiagoPortuguese international Tiago Mendes admits that arriving at Italian giants Juventus with the wrong attitude was partly to blame for his slow start at the club.

The former Benfica man endured a nightmare first season in Turin following his move from French champions Lyon in the summer of 2007, but Tiago’s performances this season have seen him turn his situation around and become an important player in Claudio Ranieri’s side.

"I was convinced that I would be a first team player and I was wrong," he confessed when speaking to Sky Italia, on an initial phase in which he was widely labelled the year’s worst foreign import into Serie A.

"As soon as I faced some difficulties, my head went in tilt. I thought that I was the first choice and that Juventus was modelled around me. I was wrong, it was me who had to model himself around Juventus and on the coach's project."
