Official: Jorge Andrade leaves Juventus

Portuguese a free agent

andradeJuventus have announced that Portuguese defender Jorge Andrade will be released from his contract, after an injury-blighted stay in Turin.

Andrade has not played for the Bianconeri since September 2007 when he suffered a serious knee injury in what was just his third game for the club against Roma, having made the switch from Deportivo La Coruna earlier that summer.

After suffering a relapse last summer, rumours began to spread throughout the Italian press that Juve were planning to call on the help of the Italian League to annul their contract with the 30-year-old.

Andrade, who still has hopes of returning to the top level, last month denied reports that he had been released from his contract with the club, but Juve have now confirmed a mutual agreement has been reached with the player.

"Juventus and Jorge Almeida Gomes de Andrade have reached an agreement to mutually resolve their relationship and define the pending process in front of the Lega Calcio,” read the club’s official statement.

"Therefore the player will be released from his contract and will be free to find another club.

"Juventus would like to wish Andrade the very best for his career both at club and international level."
