Sergio Pinto renews with Hannover

Midfielder to remain in Germany

Portuguese midfielder Sergio Pinto has ended doubts over his future with German Bundesliga outfit Hannover by signing a new three-year contract with the club.

The 29-year-old, who moved to Hannover in 2007, was out of contract at the AWD-Arena this summer. Having been involved in a relegation battle for much of last season, the club had to wait until the end of the campaign before deciding on contract renewals for players, although Pinto recently suggested he would have been happy to play for the club in the second tier.

Hannover succesfully avoided the drop, and Pinto has been rewarded for his part in the survival with a new deal. “I'm happy that I've been able to come to an agreement with the club, and that I can continue my work here in Hannover- more than anything I'm happy to still have our great fans, who have always stood by our side," said Pinto.

Meanwhile, club director Jörg Schmadtke added: “Sergio made a huge contribution at the end of the season towards keeping us in the division. He's a versatile player, who can play all over the park. We're happy that he's staying.”
