Aves striker Joao Silva has agreement with Everton - report

Youngster set for England?

Liga de Honra top goalscorer Joao Silva has an agreement to join Premiership club Everton at the end of the season, according to reports in Portugal.

The 19-year-old, who has eleven goals in Portuguese football’s second tier so far this season, has a contract with Deportivo das Aves until 2013, but is almost certain to move at the end of the current campaign for a bigger club.

Standing at almost 1.90m, Alves is far from a traditional Portuguese striker, and his exploits with Aves have already caught the eye of clubs across Portugal. Braga, Guimaraes and Nacional were all credited with an interest last month, while champions Porto were also thought to have been scouting the player.

However, according various sources in Portugal, Everton have been in dialogue with Aves president Joao Freitas in order to win the race for Silva’s signature, and have now struck a deal to take the Portuguese under-20 international to Goodison Park in the summer. Aves are thought to value their prized asset at around 700,000 euros.

Asked yesterday about the speculation, Silva said: “I honestly don’t know anything, but Everton is a great club. It would be good for me. For now, I just want to concentrate on Aves. We are in a good position and I want to finish the season.”

hmm everton seem to love portuguese players......especially young ones(moutinho,fernandes,veloso)....wonder if they have a portuguese scout somewhere along the line....its good to see though because everton is a steady team with david moyes as the head coach who imo will be the next coach at man u...hes scottish SAF loves him and hes been great at everton making great buys(fellaini, cahill, distain, arteta, piennar, jagielka, tim howard,etc...) and selling at the right time(lescott)....id like to see manuel fernandes and moutinho together at everton it wont happen but im sure one of them will end up there with Aves...
Joao Silva remember the name!

It's good to hear a striker from the Liga de Honra is shown interest from a club like Everton. I hope the deal is completely finalized because I want a reason to watch Everton now.
