FC Porto sell Pele to Eskisehirspor

Three-year deal for midfielder

Former Portugal under-21 international Vitor Pele has left FC Porto for Turkish Super Lig outfit Eskisehirspor in a cut-price €1m deal.

Pele, 22, arrived at Porto in the summer of 2008 as part of the deal that took Ricardo Quaresma to Internazionale. However, the midfielder struggled to make an impression at the Dragao, and was loaned briefly to Portsmouth, before spending last season with Valladolid in Spain.

Reports at the start of the summer suggested that new Porto coach Andre Villas Boas was open-minded about giving Pele an opportunity to prove himself on his return to the club. However, it appears the new Dragons coach decided that the former Benfica prospect is surplus to requirements.

As a result, Pele has signed a three-year contract with Eskisehirspor, who finished in 7th place in the Super Lig last year, and will wear the number eight shirt for the Red Lightnings. Pele is the second high-profile Portuguese to move to Turkey this summer, following Ricardo Quaresma’s switch to Besiktas.

ESKİŞEHİRSPOR's speciality is that they called the LEGEND of TURKEY this city team's unique character is that they play enormously though against a rival when it is very strong and famous team especially in Eskişehir in front of its famous spectators and BANDO ESES!
For example,

UEFA cup
1970-71 Eskişehir S.K vs Sevilla 0-1 lost 3-1 win
es es scored all three goals at the last 12 minutes against SEVİLLA.

They beat Galatasaray 4-2 and 2-1
2 years in a row in Eskişehir.

Last year at a super league game they lost the half time 3-1 against Denizlispor and won the game 3-4.

Milan Stepanov was a star in the Turkey.. Fatih Sonkaya was playing in Turkish National Team when he moved to Porto... where are they and what are their situation?.... They were not enough to play in your country?

So, Quaresma will be in Turkey this year... And I can assure you that there are so many star player as well in this league.. better and more though than Portugal league for sure.. let them play a bit... maybe these guys might have a chance to improve their level of football..if not, academica, boavista blah blah or some another local team of Portugal will be ready to bring them back.. we pay money for them, do not forget this..
Not a bad move at all

You guys automatically think that anything outside of EPL, La Liga are terrible leagues. You need to broaden your horizons. I read up on this Eskisehirspor team and I was impressed with everything I saw, they have a huge fanbase in Turkey and looks like they are even with the clubs we know better like Fenerbahce, Besiktas or Galatasaray. Their stadium doesn't look too good but I saw some of their fans and choreography and I was amazed. Reading some of their history it looks liek Eskisehirspor always challanged for the championship in Turkey. Who know it may work out for Pele and he may come back to us in the future a better player, he is still very young. I wish him the best at Eskisehirspor and I invite everyone to maybe look at the positive sides of these types of moves.

I can't figure out why these yound guys go to teams like this. I am not saying he is an elite player but he definitely has talent. Why would he go there and not stay in portugal or try to play for a middle tier team in england? Maybe he needs a new agent.
Good work

Pele was doing nothing to contribuit and i think it was a good move. but i think they should have at least loaned him or give him another shot. either way it wont matter. i definetley think portuguese clubs should try to develop and keep young portuguese players. especially benfica whose largest and only major contribute to the national team was coentrao who is an amazing player by the way.
What is wrong here!

their must be somthing else going on behind the scenes he had a solid run with vallidoid and was a key player maybe their best towards the end of the year 1 mil euro is to cheap something else is going on promising youg talent just dont go to midtable turkish teams maybe he slept with Pinto da costa's daughter or somthing and this is his way of punishing him.

Pele is a good young player and needs steady playing time. I expected him to go to a bigger club for that price. euhfuhvusbjbjfdkkdspor stole a promising prospect and will be able to cash in when Pele shows his true capabilities.
lol wtf?
