Nuno Diogo joins Romanian champions Cluj

Defender switches clubs

Romanian champions CFR Cluj have added to their title-winning side by securing the signing of Nuno Diogo on a three-year contract from Brasov.

According to Portuguese news agency Lusa, the deal was finalised on Tuesday, with Cluj becoming Diogo’s third club since moving to Romania. After a season with CS Otopeni in 2008/09, the 28-year-old spent last season with Brasov, helping the team to a 9th place finish.

Diogo will have no problem integrating with team-mates in Transylvania, with club captain Ricardo Cadu, goalkeeper Nuno Claro and playmaker Dani among a significant Portuguese contingent already at Cluj.

Full name Nuno Miguel Pereira Diogo, the defender is a graduate of the Sporting academy, and has represented Leca, Salgueiros, Penafiel and Leixoes in his homeland.
