Bulgaria: In-form Rui Miguel scores as CSKA go top

Spartak Varna 0-2 CSKA Sofia

Rui MiguelPortuguese striker Rui Miguel scored for the third time in two games as CSKA Sofia won 2-0 at Spartak Varna to go top of the Bulgarian A PFG on Saturday afternoon.

The 25-year-old, who scored twice in CSKA’s 3-1 midweek win over Lokomotiv Plovdiv, put the champions ahead after twenty minutes at the Spartak Stadium, and the visitors went into the break with a 1-0 lead.

Ivan Ivanov got the second on 63 minutes, and Rui Miguel was substituted in the second period. The goalscorer was joined in the starting line-up by fellow January recruit David Silva, who played the full ninety minutes in the CSKA midfield.

Both Silva and Rui Miguel are new arrivals at the Bulgarian Army Stadium, having arrived in the capital from top-flight rivals Lokomotiv Mezdra in January. Since the pair’s arrival in Sofia, CSKA have won all four league games after the extended Bulgarian winter break.

The defending champions now lead the table by two points from Levski Sofia, who have one game in-hand. Levski, with former CSKA midfielder Filipe da Costa, will host Lokomotiv Plovdiv on Sunday afternoon.
