Benfica man chooses Trotters over West Brom

MakukulaPortuguese striker Ariza Makukula has agreed to join English side Bolton Wanderers on-loan until the end of the season, after pulling out of a transfer to West Brom.

Makukula, who has barely featured for the Eagles this season, looked set to make the switch to WBA after the clubs agreed a deal, but the 27-year-old rejected the move. "There was an agreement between West Brom and Benfica but I went to the club and I didn't like their offer," he told Maisfutebol.

"I respect the club but I didn't want to be part of their project. I wanted to have a look at my contract. The coach was friendly, the club is well-organized, but I don't think it's a good fit for me."

Rival Premiership side Bolton have, however, managed to convince the Portuguese that his immediate future lies in England. The Trotters are reported to have paid Benfica over 500,000 Euros to take Makukula for the remainder of the campaign, and the deal was rushed through in order for the striker to make his debut against Manchester United on Saturday.
