Amaury Bischoff set to make the switch from Germany to England

BischoffPortugal U20 player Amaury Bischoff, is on the verge of signing for Premiership club Arsenal. The Werder Bremen midfielder is expected to complete the move this week.

Bischoff has a Portuguese mother and a French father. He opted to play for Portugal last year, taking part in the Toulon Tournament and making the squad for the World Youth Cup held in Canada last summer, although he subsequently missed the tournament due to injury.

“There are just a few details to sort out,” said Bischoff on Saturday. “Arsene Wenger is in Vienna for the Euro 2008 final, but as soon as he comes back I expect to sign the contract – which should be in the next few days.”

The 21-year-old made 16 appearances for Werder Bremen, last season, most coming off the substitutes’ bench.

He hopes to make an impact in England when his opportunity comes along. “Arsenal is a huge challenge. It’s up to me to earn my place. One advantage is that in England they play a high number of games so I think I will get my chance.”
