PSG move would be an honour - AEK’s Edinho

Striker keen on Ligue 1 move

edinhoPortuguese international forward Edinho admits he would relish a move to French outfit Paris Saint-Germain from his current side AEK in Greece.

The Aveiro-born striker moved to AEK from Vitoria Setubal 18 months ago on a six-month loan deal, and his early goalscoring exploits in Greece saw the deal made permanent last summer. However, since then disciplinarily problems and a lack of goals have seen Edinho play a more reduced role at the club this term.

Despite his problems, the 26-year-old has managed to catch the eye of a number of foreign scouts, with clubs in France, England and Germany believed to have been following his progress. Edinho attracted further interest by scoring on his international debut for Portugal against South Africa in March.

One of the clubs thought to be particularly interested is Ligue 1 outfit Paris Saint-Germain, and Edinho appears keen on a move to the Parc Des Princes. “I admit that I would like to play at PSG, because I like the club and after what Pauleta achieved there it would be an honour,” he said.

“I have links in Paris, because part of my family on my father’s side is of Senegalese origin and lives in the capital. I also have a fondness for Marseille, but I know that PSG and Saint-Etienne have been following my progress.”

On his problems in Athens, Edinho said: “Until the start of May (last year) everything had been going fine, but then this season the manager preferred Ismael Blanco and Rafik Djebbour. Even so, taking into account the reduced amount of playing time, I still finished with more goals than I had in the previous season.”
