We can't start already having lost - Coelho

Academica midfielder looking for positive start

nunocoelho.jpgIt is not be the easiest way to get the season started, but Academica will be first team to face the defending champions Benfica, at the Estadio da Luz, right off the bat and Nuno Coelho feels his side can come away with a good result.

The Estudantes are more than motivated for the opening weekend. The club feel their pre-season went rather well and that it has set them up nicely to face the rigors of the championship. Academica are not worried about having to face last season's offensive juggernaut from the get go.

"The team is very confident! We had a very good pre-season and we had macthes that went really well," said Coelho. "I believe that we will have a good game and we have to believe in the work that we have done. Benfica are a great team who play attractive football, but there's no point in going into it already having lost."

"Benfica have had their pride hurt because of the defeat against FC Porto, but that was a final and now it's the championship, and both teams will want to show what they can do."

"Benfica is about the collective. They lost important players, but they did not lose their routines - very good interior game and quick-touch football. The play an attack-minded football, but Academica have to play the game that we can."
